What is a Virtual Cook-Along Class?
The cooking school at Willamette Valley Kitchen Co. has always been a relaxing, low-stress environment for learning new recipes, cooking techniques, and ingredients. During these strange times, we aren't able to hold our regular in-store cooking classes until Oregon moves to Covid-19 Phase 3. That may take a while. In the meantime, why not try a virtual class?
A cook-along class is SO MUCH FUN! It's easy. Just sign up for the class online as you would a normal class. You'll receive an email confirmation immediately when you sign up.
A week before the class, you'll receive an email invitation that includes a link to the class. You'll also receive - class recipes; equipment list (special equipment will be minimal, if any); grocery list; and sometimes, a short prep list. You'll have a week to buy your ingredients.
A few minutes before the class starts, log on to the class livestream. For the next hour, Chef Amy will guide you through the recipe. You'll be able to ask questions via the chat feature, and she'll answer them in real time as you cook with her. All recipes are demonstrated from start to finish. When the class ends, you have a delicious meal for yourself and your family or friends!
Don't worry, you won't have to appear on video - the only active video screens will be the ones in the kitchen at Willamette Valley Kitchen Co. There will be one screen on Amy at the cutting board, and a second screen showing pans on the stove from above. Because only two screens are active, you'll have a nice large, clear view of the meal preparation and cooking.
